AI and call recording
Last updated: 2026-11-05
Allomi places calls with a synthetic voice. This page describes what the assistant announces and when a call is recorded.
The assistant says it is an AI
When the assistant talks to a third party (a restaurant, a contact, a caller), it introduces itself as an AI assistant calling on behalf of the user, at the start of the call. On the hosted Service, this announcement cannot be turned off for third parties: it answers the transparency obligation of the EU AI Act (article 50). It never claims to be a human.
Recording
- Audio recording is off by default. You turn it on in the assistant settings, and can turn it off at any time.
- When it is on, the assistant tells the other person the call is recorded, at the start of the call, before anything else.
- Recording and transcription are used to report back to you. They are deleted according to the privacy policy (transcripts: 90 days by default).
When the other person objects
If the person says they do not want to be recorded or do not want to talk to an AI, the assistant respects it: it tells the user in the report and does not insist.
Self-hosting
If you host Allomi yourself, you are responsible for the compliance of your calls (AI disclosure, recording consent, telemarketing rules). The defaults are the same as in the cloud.
